During the educational activity "Virtual tour of the Švėkšna Synagogue," participants can travel through time. Yes! Who said there are no time machines? If during the activity we can transport ourselves to the 1920s and 1930s, it means we can travel through time.
Using innovative solutions, we created an augmented 3D reality tour of the prayer hall in the Švėkšna Synagogue. During the tour, visitors can see a reconstructed view of the men's prayer hall from the interwar period, as well as restored scenes and objects. Three different narratives introduce the three distinct functions of the synagogue: the cheder, representing the educational function; the prayer service, representing the religious function; and the wedding ceremony, representing the function as a gathering place.
The tour takes place in the Švėkšna Synagogue with the help of a smart device, through which participants can scan the environment and view the created augmented 3D reality images. Afterward, they complete a task to reinforce the information seen and heard. Pre-registration is required.
The activity is designed for students in grades 5-8 and 9-12.
The duration of the activity is up to 45 minutes.
The price per person is €4.00 (with the option to book through the Cultural Passport program).
Group size: minimum of 5 people.
